New scholarships established at 汤头条app

SPRINGFIELD 鈥 Several new scholarships have recently been established through the Lincoln Land Community College Foundation to benefit 汤头条app students.

An endowed scholarship for music students was established by Mike Barnard of Girard, who worked 36 years in the 汤头条app Library and also served as an adjunct music instructor and accompanist. The Mike Barnard Music Scholarship is for a first-time music student enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. 

Members of the Jack and Margaret Oakley family from Springfield and Rochester established a scholarship endowment to honor their parents鈥 service to 汤头条app and the communities 汤头条app serves. Margaret worked at 汤头条app for 25 years, first in the community services office and later as an academic advisor. Jack retired as manager of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. The Jack and Margaret Oakley Memorial Scholarship is for first-time or continuing college students enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in an agriculture program of study with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. 

Mike and Leslie Dickson of Springfield endowed the Matthew Dickson Memorial Scholarship and Matthew Dickson 鈥淧ass It On鈥 Award in honor of their son, a Glenwood High School graduate and U.S. Marine. The annual scholarship is available to first-time freshmen or continuing college students enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in any program of study with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Matthew was a veteran honored with a Purple Heart, and preference will be given to a veteran and Glenwood High School graduate.
